Dark Matter

It is the question of dark matter
and its mass in the void.

Dark matter is a postulate—a substance searched for
like clear glass in a calm sea viewed at a distance.

Speculated to be an undiscovered subatomic particle
I wonder if it passes through the earth and me every day.

I wonder if my past attracts it enough
to substantially increase the weight of memory.

I wonder if it swirls like a swarm of gnats
around those who cannot subsume their depression.

I walk the stony shores near Port Angeles
in search of sea-glass to make into jewelry.

To make into talismans for those of us
who need assistance grasping the unseen.
