18 Dec 2018 poem

I lined up all the postcards I received in the last year.
All three of them.

I fear the people I know work too much.

I fear selfies will destroy the postcard industry.

Dear Ellie, please, may I sometimes see
the grand canyon in all its glory,
rather than the grand canyon as a backdrop
to your lovely face

(hand written on a full color postcard
of the General Winfield Scott Hancock statue
at Gettysburg National Military Park).
