When we stood face to face,
I bent my knees quite a bit
and you stood on tip toes.
We studied each others eyes
as you absorbed that I wanted to be alone
for a week or so.
Seeing the green of my irises streaked with yellow
you knew I’d been crying recently
since that is when the bright yellow replaces the brown of hazel.
You strained your neck to lift your face a tad higher.
I bent my head so our lips could meet.
Not a kiss goodbye, but an I understand & love you kiss.
