Their Hidings

A ten foot diameter
old growth Cedar
sways from a wet
pacific wind.

A sea stack
visible from the ridge
accepts the fact
each wave
slaps and rounds
its tide-line rocks
incessantly.

An old faded quilt
draped on a fallen trunk
grows a variety
of mushrooms
and bracken
as the forest
goes about its
perpetual digestion
and recomposition.

Pacific Chorus Frogs
trill their loud crek-eks
from their hidings.
