It has been years
since I nailed
poems to doors
emulating Martin Luther
with his Disputation
on the Power
and Efficacy
of Indulgences.
I do not expect
my poems
to have the same
worldly impact,
but I promised myself
to do my part
to change the world
for the better.
Now, over a bowl
of buttered
and peppered
pinto beans,
I consider
Amanda Gorman
at the inauguration
and think
There is our
modern Martin Luther.
Her Martin Luther King.
No. No.
Her Amanda.
Wholly and completely.
