Paul feels transfixed by memories
he cannot move past.
Those memories
fail to forget him as well.
In an unnatural calendar
two days are always relived.
The memories dislike
the light of Paul’s thoughts
and the muscles
he traps them in.
To distract himself
Paul goes old school.
The back and forth
of Pong’s white ball
across the big dark screen
relaxes taught shoulders
slows his breath
lets urgent memories bounce away.
