A husband and wife
sure they know what is best for their community
secretly strike black marker over offensive text
in every library book.
His ten percent tithe
bypasses the church and goes straight
to the office supply store
so they may eradicate the unmentionable.
Each evening as they look in the mirror
while brushing their teeth
they see heroes
saving humanity from itself.
Their son and daughter
have black under their fingernails
as they finish reading ripping good stories
with an inherited persistence.
